Luxury Villas for Golf Holidays

For such a small Caribbean Island, Barbados is truly blessed with an incredible choice of golf courses, especially on the West Coast, where the quality of the courses and their very close proximity to each other represent a ‘golfers paradise’.

Golf courses of note include the prestigious Sandy Lane, which is split into two golf courses namely the Green Monkey and the Country Club. The Royal Westmoreland is another challenging and visually spectacular course with an elegant colonial style clubhouse and fabulous views of the sea. Then there is The Old Nine, which was originally the Sandy Lane course and is made up of nine holes. The Barbados Golf course or as it used to be called Durance is open to the public, is well-maintained and good for golfers of all abilities.Perhaps the most amazing golf course which is certainly recommended is Apes Hill. Its elevated position provides views of the East and West coast and is an absolute gem of a golf course that can excite the pros, challenge the top amateurs and yet still delight the high handicapper.

There are three golf courses on the mountainous island of St Lucia, all of which are worth visiting if you are a golf enthusiast. For the quick game there are two 9-hole layouts at the Jalousie and Sandals resort, but for the true players destination, head to the North to the St Lucia Golf Resort + Country Club.

The lush fairways and dramatic scenery of the course at the St Lucia Golf Resort + Country Club are set within the rolling hills of the Cap Estate at the northern tip of the Island. Opening in 2001, this 18 hole course plays to par 71 and you'll need every swing to be on par as it is a demanding track. It truly is a real Caribbean golfing treat.

An exhilarating and challenging Jim Fazio designed 18 hole championship golf course, set on dramatic sloping hills and along the ocean edge. This is the game at its very best, deemed by Robb Report (June 2005) “Best Golf Course”. This is a most distinctive course of unique character and playability.

The Grenadines Estate Golf Club with spectacular, panoramic views from every hole overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Cooling north-easterly trade winds enhance the challenge and the clubhouse awaits your return and beverage service buggies are never far away. This is a most distinctive course of unique character and playability.

The first hole a par 5 will start at the clubhouse and climb gently to a green framed by the elevated fairways of the 2nd and 3rd holes. Other notable front nine holes are the sixth, a par 5 along the ocean (a good hole for a photograph, with views of the Canouan Resort spa and the Galleria) also the ninth a challenging par 5 returning to the clubhouse with water catching the unwary golfer to the right of the approach & green. On the back nine, hole 13 with its panoramic views of the Grenadines, followed by the par 3 14th. Golfers strike down hill from the top of the mountain to a green set some 100 ft below. Then the 15th, this hole has to be seen to be believed, from the Championship Tee a strike of some 310 yards brings safety; less or more brings disaster. These tees have been cut into rock creating stunning effects as you drive out away from the side of the hill. Hole 16 now plays as a 304 yard Par 3 from the back tees and drops down some 240 feet, for the less adventurous we have also built a further 5 sets of tees offering every golfer the chance to play, what we understand to be, the longest Par 3 in the world. Hole 17 a par 5 meanders around the lake, this hole is a formidable task offering a challenge whether the golfer goes for the green in two across the lake or lays up on the narrow strip of land before the green, still wary that 18 is yet to come! The 18th hole runs parallel to the 1st hole towards the clubhouse and is a challenging par 4 of some 486 yards where the unwary golfer can be caught by the water to the left of the green.
