About St Lucia | Luxury Villa Rental
Like every other Caribbean island, St Lucia has a distinct and unique personality, with it's own flavours, rhythms and cultures. Nestled in one of the more tropical landscapes in the West Indies, the rainforest covered St Lucia has a thriving pulse and bombards your senses with the sights, smells and sounds of an island that's truly alive.
St Lucia villa rental is a firm choice for families and those looking to combine true relaxation and an 'island experience', as this destination offers so much choice in the way of excursions, attractions and activities. From drive-through volcanoes, to horse-riding and tree-top adventures and an unbelievable NASA experience coupled with kitesurfing and scuba diving, there is so much to choose from.
The island of St Lucia is more mountainous than many other Caribbean islands, with the highest point being Mount Gimie, over 3000 ft. above sea level. Alongside this are it's dramatic, iconic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons which form the islands most famous landmark. They soar over 2,000 feet up from the sea, sheltering magnificent rain forests and provide spectacular jaw-dropping views. They are incredibly striking when viewed from both sea and land.
Between the ridges and valleys that tumble to the coastlines are incredibly pretty coves. St Lucia is a romantic destination where you get real local Caribbean charm with a Creole twist. It has a history of being fought over by the French and English, with the result that its population largely speaks both English and French Creole. But there's plenty to do besides taking in the panorama and culture.
The island's steep coastlines and reefs offer excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. Wind surfing is good on the west coast for beginners, and the more experienced can visit Cas en Bas and Vieux Fort, or enjoy deep-sea fishing. Some of the island's best beaches lie between Castries (the capital) and Gros Islet in the North.
There are also opportunities for the more inland sports such as golf, tennis and squash. St Lucia boasts three golf clubs with the St Lucia Golf Club set in the hills with stunning views across the Caribbean and Atlantic.
For those who are quite happy to choose a more leisurely escape, there is much to feast the senses. The 100-year-old Castries market in the capital has a wealth of local artistry where you will find unusual gifts and souvenirs. Seraphine is a modern complex with over 30 duty free shops open 7 days a week along with La Place Carenage.
