Best Way To Travel To St Barts

The quickest way to get to St Barts is by air. A number of major airlines have regularly scheduled international flights into the neighbouring island of St Martin/St Maarten, with local companies providing the connecting flights to St Bart's Gustave III Airport, located just five minutes drive from the capital of Gustavia.

The principal gateway to St. Barts is through Juliana Airport in nearby Dutch side of St Maarten, where flights arrive daily from both the USA and Europe. There are also international flights arriving into the French side of St Martin.

From St Maarten (SXM), Winair and St Barth Commuter, make the ten minute shuttle flights to St Barts (SBH).

The airstrip in St Barts is small, and pilots are required to have special training to land. For many, the landing, especially on a windy day, is an adventure in itself.

By Sea

You can also get from St Martin to St Barts by boat, options include vessels such as a charter speedboat to a daily ferry service, a taxi-boat, private yacht or sailboat. The ferry round trip will cost you from 50 Euros to 75 Euros.


There is a high speed ferry named The Edge that arrives at the capital Gustavia daily from Tuesday till Saturday. It leaves from the Pelican Marina in Dutch St. Maarten at 9 AM. The passage lasts around 45 minutes.

The MV Voyager departs daily (except Wednesdays and Sundays) from the waterfront in Marigot, St. Martin at 9:00 AM and at 6:45 PM, to arrive in Gustavia around 75 minutes later.
